The short version
- We don't use cookies or trackers on visitors to this website.
- We only collect personal details you choose to send us, such as through our contact and quote forms.
- Our visitor statistics are anonymous. We don't store your IP address, and we can't tell who you are.
- We never sell your information or use it for marketing without your permission.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
1. Who we are
Interstellar Alliance Ltd is the controller of your information, which means we decide how it's used and we're responsible for looking after it. We're registered in England and Wales (company number 17544206), and our registered office is at 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX.
This policy covers this website (interstellar-alliance.co.uk), enquiries you send us, our website design and hosting customers, and the visitor statistics we collect across our websites. Our other products have their own privacy policies (see section 13).
If we build or host a website for another business, that business is responsible for its own customers' information, and we handle it only on their behalf. See section 11 of our terms.
What we collect2. When you contact us
When you send us a message or ask for a quote through our forms, we collect:
- your name and email address;
- your phone number and business name, if you give them;
- what you need, your budget and your message, if you give them;
- which page you sent it from, and when.
Your enquiry goes into our private system, where only our team can see it. We use it to reply, prepare a quote and deal with your request. If you call us, we may note your name, number and what you need for the same reasons.
Our legal reason: taking steps you've asked for before a possible contract, and our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
3. When you become a customer
If we build, host or change a website for you, we also keep:
- your contact and billing details, quotes, invoices and payment records;
- messages and notes about your project;
- the content you give us for your website, such as text, photos and logos;
- login details for services we manage for you, such as your domain, kept securely and only for as long as we need them.
Our legal reasons: to carry out our contract with you, and to meet legal duties such as keeping tax and accounting records.
4. Visitor statistics
We count visits to our websites (this one, Motorlane, Motorlane Fleet and Interstellar Mobile Mechanic) to see which pages are useful and how people find us. For each page view we record:
- the page you looked at and roughly how long you stayed;
- the website that sent you, and any campaign tag in the link (for example from an advert);
- your device type, browser and operating system;
- an approximate country, worked out from your device's time zone setting, not your location.
How we keep it anonymous: we don't use cookies or store anything on your device. To avoid counting the same visitor twice, we combine your IP address with a random code that changes every day, and keep only a scrambled result. The daily code is deleted at the end of each day, so the result can't be turned back into your IP address or linked to you on another day. Your IP address itself is never saved.
Our legal reason: our legitimate interest in understanding how our websites are used, in a way that doesn't identify you.
5. Security logs
Like almost every website, our web server keeps standard logs of requests, including IP addresses, the page requested, your browser and the time. We use them only to keep our websites secure and fix problems, and they're deleted automatically after 14 days.
To stop spam, our forms briefly check how many messages have come from the same connection. This check happens in memory and isn't saved.
Our legal reason: our legitimate interest in keeping our websites and your information secure.
6. Cookies and fonts
We don't set any cookies for visitors to this website, so there's no cookie banner. The only cookie we use is an essential sign-in cookie for our own team when they log in to our private admin area.
Our fonts, images and code are all served from our own server, so opening our pages doesn't send your details to other companies such as Google.
How we handle it7. Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We only share it with people who help us run our business, and only what they need:
- OVH Ltd, which provides the server in the UK where our websites, enquiries and statistics are stored;
- Google Workspace, our email provider, when we email you;
- our accountant and other professional advisers, for customer billing records;
- the police, courts or regulators, only if the law requires it.
If our business is ever sold or restructured, your information may pass to the new owner, who must keep protecting it in the same way.
8. Where it's stored
Our websites, enquiries and statistics are stored on our own server in the United Kingdom. Some providers, such as Google, may process information outside the UK. When that happens, they use safeguards approved under UK law, such as adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
9. How long we keep it
We keep customer records for 6 years because tax and accounting law requires it. You can ask us to delete an enquiry sooner at any time.
10. Keeping it safe
- Every page and form on our websites uses a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS).
- Enquiries are kept in a private system that only our team can access, using individual accounts whose passwords are stored scrambled, never as plain text.
- We only give access to the people who need it.
11. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- see the information we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information, where we don't need to keep it by law;
- restrict how we use it, or object to us using it based on our legitimate interests;
- take information you gave us to another provider, in a common format.
To use any of these rights, call us on 07835 956395 or send us a message. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. We may need to check who you are before sharing anything.
Our visitor statistics are anonymous, so we can't find, show or delete a particular person's visits.
12. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Everything else13. Our other products
These products have their own privacy policies, which explain what they collect and why:
For our other iPhone apps and games, see the privacy details on each app's App Store page. Our Roblox games are covered by Roblox's own privacy policy.
14. Children
This website and our website services are for adults and businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from children through this website. If you think a child has sent us their details, please let us know and we'll delete them.
15. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy if the way we use information changes, and change the date at the top. If a change affects you significantly, such as if you're a customer, we'll tell you directly.
